YES Academy is pleased to welcome Dr. Amr Selim to the Academy program with an exciting two weeks of symphonic Band repertoire for woodwinds, brass and percussion. The program will be a two-week long immersion into music for Symphonic Band and, when joining forces with the Festival String Orchestra, into Symphonic Orchestra repertoire. At the camp, students will improve their individual skills and broaden their own musical experience in a shared environment of teamwork and learning. Other aspects of the program include technique, breathing, and and sight-reading classes, chamber music (brass and woodwind quintets plus duets, trios and ensembles with strings and/or piano), Jazz and Broadway repertoire and collaborations, private and small group lessons, sectional rehearsals and other general Academy activities like the YES Open Mic night where everyone can share their talents across all programs. This year’s program is open to up to 25 instrumentalists aged 15 and up. Admission is based on instrumental skills, talent and ability as demonstrated in your live audition or submitted audio or video.
