The Opera Workshop program is part of the Classical Voice program. Two hours of the afternoon will be devoted to Opera with Christine Moore Vassallo and another two hours to vocal technique, Art Song, Oratorio and Vocal Ensemble with Professor Ira Spaulding. In addition to these four hours of class time, private lessons and coachings will be arranged.
The Opera Workshop/Classical Voices program is appropriate for solo singers either at the pre-professional level or enrolled in or aspiring to study at the College, Conservatory or University level either in their home country or abroad.
The Opera Workshop program will provide singers the opportunity to take part in opera scenes as well as study arias and duets appropriate to their level of experience. Training in the musical, staging and acting of opera scenes will culminate in a performance at the end of the program. In addition to any video submitted or live audition held to be accepted into the program, another live audition is required on the first day the program to confirm the singer's level and appropriate repertoire. YES faculty will be in contact with each singer in early July, prior to the start of the program, to assign repertoire so that participants can start the program with music already prepared.
Faculty artist Christine Moore Vassallo will offer the following in addition to the above program:
Diction training
Musical style and artistry training
Acting and stage deportment training
Private vocal and musical coaching
Guided listening of great opera scenes and singers
