Broadway Stars offers specialized intensive training in musical theater taught by a team of seasoned performer/teachers from Los Angeles, Dr. Peter Thoresen of Pace University, and Joel Judo Rivera Broadway Stars classes have been designed for student and young professional singers, actors and dancers aged 16-30 desiring to acquire further training and on-stage experience and performance opportunities in Musical Theater.
Broadway Stars will encourage emerging ‘triple-threats’ (those skilled in singing, acting and dancing) to improve their performance in Musical Theater, learn new repertoire, and understand how to audition. You do not have to be trained or have experience in all three areas (singing, acting, dancing) to participate, however, as a participant you will be expected to study and perform using these newly acquired skills.
Broadway Stars, through its intensive training and rehearsals schedule, captures the essence of the musical theater experience. Each element of the program is designed to develop musical theater abilities and cultivate the discipline that dedicated performers must have.
The study repertoire planned for this program is excerpts fromHamilton, Waitress, Carousel, Rent and more. In addition to large cast ensemble pieces, you will have the opportunity to be coached in your solos and assigned small ensembles.
For your audition, please prepare one short song, choreography or acted scene. If you want to demonstrate more than one skill, such as singing and dance, you may submit or perform two short audition pieces.
Students will be selected for the program based on their talent, motivation and potential. Up to two teachers may be selected for our Teacher Training program and they will serve as rehearsal and staging/choreography/music rehearsal assistants.
