The Symphony and String Orchestra is designed for advanced string players who want to improve their skills as soloists, chamber musicians and ensemble players.
Participants will explore baroque, traditional and contemporary repertoire as well as receive private lessons and participate in the Festival String Orchestra, chamber music repertoire and work with young composers. All participants will have the opportunity to audition for the Festival Baroque Ensemble.
YES Academy Lebanon is proud to welcome the Colombian-American conductor, Carlos Botero, to join the faculty in leading the Festival String Orchestra and classes and private lessons in beginning and advanced conducting. Also new to our faculty is Julliard graduate and member of the New World Symphony Orchestra, violinist Gregory Cardi.
We are pleased to welcome back violinist Rob Diggins, violist Kim Mai Nguyen and cellist Avery Waite to our faculty, who will also lead the Festival Baroque Orchestra in addition to private lessons, sectional rehearsals, chamber music and performances of student composers new works.
The repertoire for the Festival String Orchestra will be posted on our website and Facebook page in early July. Please study this repertoire as there will be an audition on the second day of the program to assign first chair(s), concertmaster(s) and other seating in the orchestra.
