Camp Broadway offers specialized intensive training in musical theater taught by Dr. Peter Thoresen of Pace University (New York City). Camp Broadway has been designed for aspiring young performers, aged 15 and up with an affinity for musicals and aspirations to acquire on-stage experience and performance opportunities.
Camp Broadway will encourage emerging ‘triple-threats’ (skilled in singing, acting and dancing) to improve their skills, learn how to audition and acquire basic vocal technique conducive to healthy singing.
Camp Broadway, through its intensive training and rehearsals schedule, captures the essence of the musical theater experience. Each element of the program is designed to develop musical theater abilities, enhance interpersonal skills and cultivate the discipline that dedicated performers must have.
The study repertoire planned for this program is excerpts from Hamilton, West Side Story, Lion King, Aladdin, Frozen, and the newest hit musicals from Broadway, Waitress and Bright Star. Some of the songs and choreographies you will study include; ‘My Shot’, ‘Schuyler Sisters’ and ‘Dear Theodosia’, ‘Tonight’, ‘For the First Time in Forever’, ‘A Whole New World’, ‘All That Jazz’, ‘Bright Star’ and ‘She Used to be Mine’
If you are required to audition, please prepare one song sung solo or with sound file. You may also audition with a monologue or choreography.
